Mechanism Detail
Curcumin inhibits NF-κB signaling, reducing inflammatory cytokine production. It binds amyloid-beta fibrils (relevant to Alzheimer's), modulates epigenetic enzymes (HATs, HDACs), and induces apoptosis in cancer cells through multiple pathways including PI3K/Akt inhibition.
Clinical Status
Multiple clinical trials completed. Bioavailability remains the primary challenge. Lipid-formulated versions (BCM-95, Theracurmin) show improved absorption.
