Fisetin

Category: compound

A plant flavonoid found in strawberries with potent senolytic and anti-inflammatory properties. Being studied as a safer alternative to dasatinib + quercetin.

Mechanism Detail

Fisetin inhibits multiple kinases (PI3K, AKT, mTOR) and transcription factors (NF-κB). As a senolytic, it reduces senescent cell burden more effectively than quercetin alone in some models. It also activates Nrf2 antioxidant pathways, inhibits lipoxygenase, and promotes neuronal survival via ERK activation.

Clinical Status

AFFIRM trial (Mayo Clinic) testing fisetin for age-related frailty. ALSARA trial for osteoarthritis. Available as supplement. Bioavailability is low but formulation efforts ongoing.
