Spermidine for Stage IV Cancer
Also known as: Wheat germ extract
Spermidine enhances anti-tumor immunity through autophagy-dependent immunogenic cell death and improved immune surveillance.
Mechanism of Action
Spermidine promotes autophagy in immune cells, enhancing T cell memory formation and anti-tumor surveillance. It induces immunogenic cell death in tumor cells, making them visible to the immune system. It also promotes caloric restriction mimicry with metabolic anti-tumor effects.
General mechanism: Natural polyamine. EP300 inhibitor inducing autophagy/mitophagy. TFEB activator. Caloric restriction mimetic. Anti-inflammatory.
Current Evidence
Higher polyamine intake correlates with reduced cancer mortality. Spermidine enhances response to chemotherapy and immunotherapy in preclinical models. Clinical studies are emerging.
Clinical Status: Epidemiological support. Preclinical for immunotherapy enhancement.
Safety Profile
Very safe. Naturally present in diet (wheat germ, soybeans, mushrooms). No significant side effects at supplement doses.
